A new policy regarding the acceptance of Commercial Air Transport (CAT) aircraft for registration and certification in Bermuda will be put into effect immediately.
At the request of the Russian Department for State Policy for Civil Aviation, any CAT aircraft more than ten years old that are offered for registration and certification in Bermuda by a Russian AOC holder must first be accepted by the Russian Department for State Policy for Civil Aviation before the Director of Civil Aviation in Bermuda will be able to accept the aircraft for registration and certification.
Aircraft to be operated by a Russian AOC holder that are less than ten years old, can be accepted without first having the aircraft entered in Schedule 1 of the 83 bis Agreement between Bermuda and Russia.
Any Russian AOC holder that has not operated western built aircraft before and wishes to start operations with aircraft to be placed on the Bermuda register, even if they are less than ten years old, must still obtain approval for such operations from the Russian Department for State Policy for Civil Aviation and have their aircraft accepted on Schedule 1 by the Russian CAA before Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation will proceed with the registration and certification of the aircraft.
