The Airworthiness Section of the Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation is
responsible for the oversight and regulation of the airworthiness of aircraft on
the Bermuda register; the initial issue and the re-issue of certificates of
airworthiness and the oversight of the management of continuing airworthiness of
aircraft. In addition the Airworthiness Section is responsible for the oversight
and approval of Aircraft Maintenance Organisations and the validation of
aircraft engineers licenses. The BDCA Airworthiness Inspectors and Officers
ensure that Bermuda registered aircraft are maintained to a high level of
airworthiness in accordance with International Standards and Recommended
Practices and the current Air Navigation (Overseas Territories Order (AN(OT)O).
The BDCA Airworthiness Section’s duties include:
- Aircraft certification
- Maintenance engineers licence validations
- Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (AMO) approvals
- Oversight of the management of the continuing airworthiness of aircraft
- Regulation of the maintenance of aircraft for Air Operator’s Certificate
(AOC) holders
